Two of these van der Stadt 222’s were built, one was built in South Africa, and this one that was built in Germany at Bremen. Construction is 3 layers of cold moulded solid Mahogany on Teak I-beam and stringers, and Teak cockpit construction. They were built to compete in the first Trans Atlantic Cape to Rio Race.
